Witkrans Farm

About the Accomodation

Witkrans Farm has pristine fynbos and at least 180 indigenous plant species including many proteas, erica’s, irises, and geraniums. The farm is also home to a wide variety of birds including Knysna Woodpecker, Cape Sugarbird, and Orange-breasted Sunbird. We have a well-documented bird list for the property with over 185 documented birds (23 endemic and 5 near-endemic).

There is a natural stream running along the bottom of the property which is included in a gentle, circular walking trail. Various well-marked hiking trails on the farm as well as part of the slackpacking hiking trail, The Fynbos Trail, which our guests are welcome to walk sections of.

There are two self-catering cottages on Witkrans to rent: Buchu Cottage can sleep 4 people in two rooms. The main room has a double bed and its own small balcony leading out of double doors, looking out towards the Witkrans mountains. There is another room with two single beds. Bathroom with a shower and toilet. Small indoor fireplace for the cooler evenings. Outside covered stoep with braai area.

Cone Bush Cottage sleeps 6 people with 3 twin bedrooms. Open plan lounge kitchen with large concertina doors that open onto a covered stoep with braai area and looking out towards the Flower Valley mountains. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet and the other two rooms share a bathroom with a shower and toilet. Closed indoor fireplace for cold evenings. Open plan living area with fully equipped kitchen. This cottage also has its own wood-fired hot tub in the garden area.

Anton Odendal at Western Cape Birding says ‘We have little doubt that Witkrans is the prime birding hotspot in the Overberg’.
