Santa Fishing Estate is a 2000ha expanse of rolling mountain grasslands, wetlands, forests, and some of the best fly-fishing waters in the Dullstroom area. Located in the Steenkampsberg, Santa is a perfect weekend getaway for friends and families, offering visitors the opportunity to relax on or explore the Estate, or to make the most of what Dullstroom has to offer.
The vastness of the Estate and its diverse habitats, make Santa a wonderful destination for outdoor enthusiasts, including birders, hikers, mountain bikers, etc. The Santa property borders on the Verloren Valei Nature Reserve. This internationally recognized wetland reserve provides pristine breeding grounds for all three of southern Africa’s endangered cranes – the Blue, Grey Crowned and Wattled. All three crane species, together with over 30 endemic/near-endemic species, have been recorded on Santa. Examples include the Southern Bald Ibis, Cape Vulture, Black Harrier, Forest Buzzard, Southern Boubou, Eastern Long-billed Lark, Drakensberg Prinia, Cape Grassbird, Bush Blackcap, Gurney’s Sugarbird, Buff-streaked Chat, Ant-eating Chat, Ground Woodpecker, Cape Rock Thrush, Sentinel Rock Thrush, Fiscal Flycatcher, Cape Weaver, Swee Waxbill, Cape Longclaw and Cape Canary.
