Muluwa Lodge

About the Accommodation

With breathtaking views over the striking Lowveld of South Africa, Muluwa lodge offers superb African luxury and accommodation paired with our warm and genuine Muluwa hospitality. Ideally located accommodation to explore Kruger National Park and the sights of Mpumalanga, or to simply relax and enjoy our setting in a peaceful wildlife estate, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.

Muluwa Lodge offers three room categories: twelve of our signature luxury safari tents, eight superior rooms and two luxury suites

While most visitors come to this part of the country to enjoy South Africa’s big game, a whole world of feathered creatures hover above the hazy plains of Mpumalanga. The area provides mixed bushveld – combinations of flat savanna and woodland – providing bird watchers an opportunity to view a smorgasbord of birdlife.

Here at Muluwa, you can catch a glimpse of many beautiful birds; it’s easy to lose track of time as you while away the hours in the Mac Hide or taking a stroll around the grounds. A variety of birds are often seen from the deck of your accommodation or the main lodge too.

Birdlife includes various Eagles, Flycatchers, Hornbills, Kingfisher, Sunbirds, and many others. We have recorded over 200 species of birds on the estate.

At Muluwa, a unique experience awaits, as you are surrounded by peaceful “plains game” wildlife that meander around the Likweti Wildlife Estate. Giraffe, zebras, nyalas and other soft game roam freely and are often seen around the various accommodations and the main lodge.

On the banks of the Estate’s dam, not far from the main building at Muluwa Lodge, is the MAC Hide. The Hide gives our guests a secluded hideout from which they can observe the resident wildlife congregating at the watering hole. The luckiest visitors get to see the awkward split-like stance taken by the giraffe as its head has to travel almost 6 metres down to enjoy a drink.

Water attracts not only big game, but throngs of bird-life too. The Hide is a bird-watcher’s paradise as the area’s feathered visitors drink, bathe and fish at the Dam.
