Greater Plettenberg Bay – Plettenberg Pelagic Trips

About the Birding

Pelagic trips are available in Plettenberg Bay. Based at Central Beach and in collaboration with Ocean Safaris, trips are organised based on there being enough people, a minimum of 6/8 is needed for a trip to run. So, weather permitting and for those with sea legs, this is an opportunity to add some offshore birds to your list such as: Cape Gannet, Greater Crested, Sandwich and Common Terns, as well as Cape Cormorant, are found close inshore.

Look out for Parasitic Jaeger chasing terns that have been feeding. Further out White-chinned Petrel, Sooty, Cory’s, Manx and sometimes Flesh-footed Shearwater are found. Look out for the smaller Wilsons and European Storm-petrel. Larger birds include Subantarctic (Brown) Skua, and the Shy, and Indian yellow-nose Albatross.
