About the Birding
Voëlvlei (-34.246272, 21.807209) – special note should be made regarding the Voëlvlei near Vleesbaai. This pan is dry and is on average only once every 7 years filled with water. However, when it does fill it turns into a spectacular birding spot. Voëlvlei is on private property and access can be obtained from the farm house closest to the above provided GPS co-ordinates.
About the Birding Site
The Greater Mossel Bay is situated on the far western half of the Garden Route. The various habitats within the greater Mossel Bay area makes for a rich birding experience. The aforementioned habitats include Coastal waters, Estuaries & Freshwater bodies, Farmlands & Agulhas plains, Forest & Forest edge, and Fynbos.
