Garden Route – Knysna Pelagic trips

About the Birding

Pelagic trips are available in Knysna. Based on Thesens Island and in collaboration with Ocean Odyssey Whale Watching, trips are organised based on there being enough people, a minimum of 8 is needed for a trip to run. Birds seen include Wilsons and European Storm Petrels, Cory’s, Sooty, Manx and Flesh-footed Shearwaters, Indian Yellow-nosed, Shy and Black-browed Albatross, Subantarctic Skua, Sabine’s Gull, White-chinned Petrel, Great-winged Petrel and Giant Petrel.

About the Birding Site

Three different bird species, a Warbler, a Woodpecker and a Turaco, all point to the town of Knysna and the diverse birding it has to offer. Wrapped around a magnificent lagoon and separated from the Indian Ocean by the dramatic Knysna Heads, it has something to offer for the whole family including the offer of pelagic birding.
