Bird Club – Birdlife Sandton
More about the bird club:
BirdLife Sandton has been in existence for 35 years+ now (1982) and we welcome all members from the experienced birders to the less so!
BirdLife Sandton is affiliated to BirdLife South Africa.
Our club meetings take place at the Vintage Club, Bryanston Village, 76 Homestead Avenue, Bryanston at 6 for 6.30 pm.
We usually meet every second month on the last Wednesday of the month – although this can vary occasionally due to the availability of the speaker and venue. Our meeting takes the form of a club presentation on a variety of topics around birds and the environment, a light dinner is served with wine and/or soft drinks. We have a raffle and the main event is the specialist speaker.
Our meetings are very informal and relaxed. Paid up members do not pay to attend these club meetings. Visitors are welcome and will pay R50 a head to cover the cost of food and wine.
We have both day and weekend outings as per our outings schedule. Costs of these vary but factors influencing the costs are guiding costs and accommodation costs. Most weekend outings are self-catering and on day outings we normally bring tea/ coffee and snacks. We may also extend to having a picnic. Visitors are welcome to join us by pre-arrangement and will be charged the normal guiding and entrance fees.
The club has around 100 members and our normal year runs from January to December.
