Bird Club – BirdLife Rustenburg

More about the bird club:

The club meets monthly (at 18:30 on the third Monday of a month) where there is usually an interesting speaker or topic that is mostly bird related. After the meeting, the members get a chance to socialise with some refreshments.

We have monthly outings to interesting birding areas like Pilanesberg Nature Reserve and other Northwest parks. Some of the outings in the last year have been to Zaagkuilsdrift, the vulture restaurant & hide at Nyoka Ridge in Hekpoort and the Vlaklaagte area.

This year the club also presented a course aimed at improving the birding skills of members and non-members.

The club takes part in the bi-annual CWAC (Coordinated Waterbird Count) at Kroondal, Olifantsnek and Rockwall Dams.

Once a year the club arranges a weekend outing to birding areas that are further away – like Levubu in the Soutpansberg, Wakkerstroom, Magoebaskloof and the Karoo National Park to name a few.
