Bheki is a highly skilled and successful BirdLife South Africa Accredited (Community) Birding Guide who also runs voluntary education programmes for schools in the Lake Sibaya area. One of his biggest projects is the removal of alien vegetation from around the shores of Lake Sibaya. Bheki, affectionately known as ‘Shakes’, has also set up the Zuzulwazi Environmental Programme, an NPO that successfully built an environmental education center at Lake Sibaya and continues to engage youth from adjacent communities.
Bheki is a specialist guide for the Lake Sibaya area, as well as the areas around the greater iSimanagaliso Wetland Park. Bheki has been a BirdLife South Africa-trained guide since 2007 and also holds a qualification in Environmental Education, which he obtained through the Botanical Gardens in 2006.
